In this write-up I’ll take a appear at the very best Mac computer software available in 2011. I will focus on two principal places that affect virtually everybody nowadays, browsers and workplace productivity apps, and then take a appear at the effect of the Apple’s new Mac App Store.
Browsers
“What’s the best Mac browser” is a difficult question, as technologies are constantly changing, and the capabilities of Mac browsers rely on their plugins. But at the time of this writing my preferred 3 Mac browsers, in sorted order, are:
Firefox
Google Chrome
Safari, from Apple
Even though Firefox is a bit slower than Chrome these days, there are hundreds of excellent, mature Firefox plugins accessible for you to choose from. These plugins can assistance turn Firefox from an ordinary browser into a browser that can do all sorts of points, including block pop-up ads, hide other advertisements, download images and videos, and a great deal, a lot a lot more.
Google Chrome is the new kid on the block, and consequently it tends to be quicker than Firefox, but does not have as many plugins out there.
I do not really like Apple’s Safari browser quite a lot, but it really is 1 really terrific function is its “Reader”. With mac rectangle of a button, the Reader reformats your view of a net web page so it’s much simpler to read than typical.
Office Apps
Based on your requires and personal preferences, the very best office apps these days are:
Microsoft Workplace
Apple iWork
Open Workplace
If you like the look and really feel of Microsoft Workplace, and compatibility with Microsoft Windows Workplace files is significant to you, Microsoft Workplace for Mac can be a great option. A couple of years ago I would not have encouraged Workplace simply because of its high value, but these days the value has dropped to beneath $one hundred or $200, generating it a substantially additional cost-effective value for your Mac.
The point that has produced Microsoft drop their Workplace rates is the iWork suite of office apps from Apple. More than the final couple of years iWork has improved substantially whilst also keeping their costs really low. If you just want to invest in Apple’s spreadsheet system named Numbers, it’s presently obtainable for $19.99, or you can get their iWork suite of apps for one Mac for $79 or significantly less, or invest in a five-user loved ones pack for significantly less than $one hundred. These are the Mac “workplace” apps I use.
Lastly, if you favor your office apps be no cost, take a look at Open Workplace. Even though these office apps really feel clunky to me, their cost of “free” has its personal appeal.
The Mac App Shop
In the last ninety days Apple has changed the Mac applications landscape considerably by providing all sorts of excellent third-celebration Mac applications from a single easy storefront. Through the Mac App Store you can obtain all sorts of fantastic Mac apps, which includes:
Presentation apps like Keynote.
Image editors like Pixelmator.
Drawing apps like SketchBook Pro.
Entertaining Mac apps like Angry Birds.
Lots of, quite a few more.
